Cozy Cuddles

I am an infinitely lazy person. Weekends are do nothing days for me. I lounge around, and if I really feel energetic, I go for brunch at the local cafe (honey, camembert and olive paninis are amazing) to get some social interaction and hopefully get some reading and work done. Normally, I also make my friends take the blog photos after, so I have a reason to get dressed (it's cold, and getting out of my fuzzy pajamas isn't exactly high on my list on priorities).

Now, being the lazy person I am, and having most of my brunch crew out of town, last weekend, I decided the best thing to do was change out of my pajamas, into some not quite pajamas.

I wasn't planning on taking photos this week and decided comfort and warmth were my main brunch priorities. While this week has been exceedingly nice weather wise (yay, 5-10 degree days!), I'm starting to think I have Raynaud's disease, and have been taking extra measures to stay cozy. Suddenly having a toe turn white is not the most comforting thing in the world to see, so what better way to stay warm than to cuddle up in a fuzzy sweater and my favourite joggers?

Boxing Day Shopping

Aritzia sale, Rag & Bone skinny destroyed, basic outfit, French style, leopard print heels, Calgary fashion, Calgary fashion blog,

Oh Boxing Day, Canada's Black Friday. I'm the biggest sucker for sales, and needless to say, I spent a ton in the past two days. I purchases these Rag & Bone jeans for $100 off during a pre-boxing day sale, and I might have a little (very expensive) something else to show off in two weeks.
A basic white tee goes perfectly with distressed denim, and even though it's not my usual look, it's a go-to when I'm shopping amongst hoards of people. T-shirt, jeans, a small purse, and a cute pair of heels (short please!) are the perfect shopping outfit. A smaller purse is unobtrusive and won't get caught on anything (or bang against other shoppers (as a Canadian I worry about this!)), while shorter heels lets me walk swiftly to steal what others want!

Aritzia carries their exclusive brand Wilfred Free, which makes my all time favourite v-neck tees. They're extremely soft, drape perfectly, and wear well. Whenever there's a sale, I stock up. Which really means I just buy one in a new colour (or shade). Because obviously I don't have enough white or grey tees in my life.

On another note, my parents got me the best Christmas gift every. Well, best two. A new Canon 50mm f1.8 lens, and let me tell you, I've been able to get some bokehliscious backgrounds with it. I'm still having troubles getting it to focus on my entire body using a low enough aperture for the bokeh effect, but I swear I'll be aiming for better pictures in the new year. The other gift I've been loving is the book, How to be Parisian Wherever You Are. I highly recommend it, as it's witty, charming, not necessarily practical (don't answer his calls but send gushing texts? Why?) and easy to read. Plus, it describes my own little paradoxes so well. Next time someone complains about my spending money on lingerie no one will ever see, or being absolutely astonished when I'm dumped, I'm just going to tell them I'm a true Parisian. It says so in the book! But seriously, these girls did an amazing time writing this, and I highly suggest you take a look. There's an excerpt on Vogue.

Happy Stampede!

I highly recommend wearing wedges if you're going to any festivals this summer! Walking around the Stampede grounds for a day isn't fun in heels, and wedges make everything so cute, vs. tacky cowboy boots.

It's the time of year, where everyone in my city dresses up on jeans, plaid, and the quintessential cowboy hat and cowboy boots. I'm not a fan of the cowboy themed wear, so I tend to just bring out my denim jacket for everyday looks.

Normally, my denim jacket is relegated to outfits I want to dress down – the little black dress or this little white dress from All Saints. I do tend to bring it out as a casual cover up all the time during Stampede, vs. my usual leather jacket or trench coat (I need a new one, so if you have any suggestions on which to get, comment below!). While it's not something I wear everyday, this jacket is perfect for keeping me warm in the air conditioning at the office, or when the evening turns a bit cooler.

Sunglasses were freebies from the Stampede... they also happen to be the only pair of aviators I've tried that look half decent on me! (I really want these Marc Jacob mirrored pair though)

A Bit of Lace at the Lilac Festival

Lilac Festival, Calgary, outfit, summer fashion, spring fashion, Barbie for Townshoes, For Love and Lemons, American Eagle, Overalls, Coach, round sunglasses
Photos taken by Josephine Ling
Happy Friday everyone! I'm a little late posting this outfit as the Lilac Festival took place on Sunday. The Lilac Festival is probably Calgary's largest street festival/market, and there are plenty of vendors to buy jewelry from. The sole reason I go every year is to find new, local Etsy stores and designers. There are plenty, as the festival stretches for 13 blocks.

Despite being slightly overcast that day, I made sure to bring my round Coach sunnies. I picked them up at the outlet last spring due to the abnormal shape. I had never seen anything so large and circular before! While I'm not fond of statement jewelry, I do love a good pair of statement sunglasses!

Yes, I'm still in love with my overalls (pretty sure this is the third time I mentioned them on the blog). This time I paired it with a lace top to add some femininity to the boyish shorts.

France at Global Fest 2013

Hello summer! I swear it's just the sun making me this pale. Globalfest has finally started and I headed down today to see France's show. It's the first time France has competed in the fireworks competition, and they did wonderfully! Check out below to see a few of the fireworks, the different cultural pavilions, and my outfit.

Supposedly long earrings will make your face appear longer.... Mine is still amazingly round.

A sweater is definitely needed if you're heading for fireworks. It can get pretty chilly by the time they start (but then again, I'm always cold anyways). Truthfully, I should have worn a different top and then layered the sweater over it, as I was sweating on the walk over to the park, 12 blocks away.

I'm so sad, I lost my midi ring sometime when I was packing my folding chairs away once the fireworks were done! I felt it fall off, but I couldn't find it anywhere on the ground. =(

Globalfest is not only a fireworks festival, but also a place to learn about different cultures. They had Middle Eastern, Spanish and South American dancers on Sunday at the different pavilions. The colours on this dress are gorgeous. Perfect for summer.

Some belly dancers to represent the Middle East.

From South America. Look at the gorgeous details on these outfits!

France's show was amazing. How spectacular is this cascading fall of fireworks.

These ones reminded me of baby's breath flowers, although I don't know if that's on purpose or not. They were shown during a really pretty, delicate song.

Mocha Chocalata ya ya, Creole lady Marmalade. The fireworks are always set to music, and I loved France's selection. Two of the songs were from Moulin Rouge, one of my favourite musicals/movies, while the rest were a few nice pop songs and pretty instrumentals. I need to find the playlist somewhere.

TOPSHOP Opening Up in Chinook Centre!

TOPSHOP will be opening in Chinook Centre here in Calgary! Needless to say, I cannot wait! I really hope they offer as good a selection as their British stores though, unlike when Scotch and Soda opened here. I also hope the markup in price won't be as bad as it is at The Bay. TOPSHOP is just so much cheaper to by in England... perhaps I'll go soon. The store will be opening in the fall.

Calgary Coats - The Puffer Jacket

Armani Exchange Printed Peplum Puffer Jacket

The weather has been mild lately, thanks to a few chinooks, but I know Calgary weather will be getting to be pretty brutal soon. So what better way to prep for the chill than to look at some new jackets!

While I'm normally a fan of pea coats, I've noticed puffer jackets seem to be really popular, and given the week of -40°C we're bound to have in a month or so, I can understand why.

So, without further adieu, here are some of my favourite puffer jackets I've seen around.

Free People Opens at Chinook Centre!

Free People Clothing Boutique opened today at Chinook Centre in Calgary with cupcakes and Perrier water! As usual, the clothes were gorgeous, as was the decor. It's the second boutique to open in Canada, the first being in Toronto. Now I have both the boutique and the Free People section at The Bay to tempt me at work!

The boutique had plenty of clothes for me to moon over, and www.freepeople.com has even more so check it out!
